Motorsport has always been a great way to connect people, teams, nations and bring unity across countries. This certainly holds true within African Rally Championship with one of its biggest fan bases on the continent. It is essential to recognise those who can capture powerful moments from this sport through photography..

The visual medium of Photography captures moments that will stay with us forever. Being a serious amateur photographer myself, I know the exhilarating feeling to look at a great shot. It truly gives one a sense of accomplishment.
Innocent Mutaawee, a talented and creative photographer from Uganda is our photographer for February. Being a good photographer requires a good eye, anticipation, a lot of creativity and in Motorsport a lot of patience. This guy knows his stuff.

Innocent Mutaawe, who was born and raised in Kampala-Uganda, started his career in photography in 2014 as a freelance sports photographer covering table tennis and badminton. He believes in telling stories through the camera lens which has made him an award-winning photographer; he was named 2019 Sports photographer of the year in the Uganda Press Photo awards.
He graduated from Aptech Computer Education Uganda where he specialized in Arena multimedia and qualified as a media developer. He took his talents to private agencies like African Rally Archives and Infotech shop.
He is a member of the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA), a sports association governing reporters, writers, and photographers who cover Ugandan sports news.
As a rally enthusiast, he has covered rallies across Africa like the beloved and very popular WRC Safari rally in Kenya; which is the most celebrated rally on the continent, the African Rally Championship (ARC), and the Rift Valley Odyssey -the toughest and most adventurous mountain bike challenge.

Celebrating Africa’s most talented Photographers, who have taken stunning action shots during ARC events, is something that FIA African Rally Championship wants to do. There could even be potential for a photo contest in the future! Everyone is invited to submit their best-captured images of an ARC competition.
