Zimbabwe's Jess Watson and David Milner won the 2005 Zambia International Rally in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 after inheriting the lead in the last stage of the event with the unfortunate retirement of the Ugandan Riyaz Kurji.

Second overall was Zambia's Muna Singh and David Sihoka also in a Subaru Impreza with fellow countryman Paul Monge and Ray Thornicraft also in a Subaru Impreza who lost out with a puncture in the stage losing 6 minutes.

Fourth overall was the local hero Charles Kapya and Abel Nyakunzu in a Subaru Impreza. Pierre-Henri Bence and Cindy Winrebe from Namibia in their Toyota Corrola RSi which they drove in Group S were fifth overall and Zambian Rammy Singh and Gary Ismail were sixth in their Toyota Celica.
Ugandan's Riyaz Kurji and Sayed Kadri who led for most of the rally after Nambia's Richard Himmel and Adolf Botes who were the early leaders blew their engine in Special stage No. 6. Kurji lost their clutch and subsequently broke their gearbox in the second last stage of the event and it seems he does not have any luck in this years ARC series.

Also early pacsetters were James Whyte and Phil Archenoul from Zimbabwe who held second overall for most of the event but eventually stopped with a broken accelerator cable. Zimbabwean John Zanin and Rodney Kilpert side swiped a tree and Zambian newcomer Abdallah Hamad blew the engine of his Subaru Impreza.

15 cars started the Zambia International Rally with 10 homologated cars in the field. The rally started in Lusaka and ran over 244 km of special stages in the Chilanga and Chisamba East areas on private farms. 8 cars finished the rally with 5 homologated cars.
